Show MILTON ONCE MORE. Did Milton' die a Catholic? Father Thurston, in a recent number of The Month, makes out quite clearly a negative conclusion. Only eighteen months before his death the poet published a pamphlet, pam-phlet, the contents of which show conclusively that the writer could not have been a Catholic at the time. Neither was it likely that on who showed himself so bitter a railer against the growth of "Poppery" could be a prot-pective convert. The question, of course, is purely academic, and probably prob-ably never will be decided to suit all who arc now pro and conning. In the meantime living Catholics Catho-lics will do well to take more than an academic interest in-terest in their own Catholicity. Providence Visitor. |
