Show REPRESENTATION OF CORK. At the weekly meeting of the Cork United Trades association on Thursday Mr." G. Coates, chairman, presiding reference was made by Mr. D. A. Kiely (typographical) to the impending vacancy va-cancy in the parliamentary representation of, Cork, lie was sure that they were all very sorry to lose Mr. William O'Brien, but he counseled them that , when a' vacancy occurred, and when candidates would be canvassing very strongly, the delegates "of trades organizations should not pledge themselves to any individual until they thoroughly understood the position. The reason he uttered this advice was because for a number of years past the city was more or less represented by the highest class of parliamentarians, and the time was now come when the power of their association was such that they should have a voice in appointing a city member mem-ber and in electing a man who would give, attention atten-tion to the interests of the workers. -" . .", ',' ' I The chairman agreed, and sf.ld that" when can- w vassing would be going'on it would be prudent for the workers to keen their miads to themselves, and they would know what to do when the right man comes. |
