Show Yale's President Attends Mass. That a Yale president was present at a Pontifical Ponti-fical Mass, wearing his academic gown and mortarboard, mortar-board, must make some of the bigots brimful of wrath. President Arthur Hadley, of that great Protestant, institution, went to St. Mary's church, Xew Haven, Conn., and sat in a front pew while Bishop Tierney 1 officiated at the Holy Sacrifice. This was the first time a lale president has been inside a Catholic church in Xew Haven in his official of-ficial capacity. ' When Arthur Hadley. who was always considered consid-ered an opponent of Rome and its religious belief, be-lief, attends a Catholic church, some change in, faith is going to come over the distinguished and scholarly president of Protestant Yale. 1 ; Great minds have turned to Rome in the past, and greater bigots, too, than Hadley of Yale. The sermon was preached by Father Splinter, O, P., of Xew York. Michigan Catholic. j |
