Show CATHEDRAL NOTES. Rev. Father Keenan celebrated mass at Mercur last Sunday. j Services were held at the penitentiary peniten-tiary last Sunday. Next Sunday the promoters of the Sacred Heart league will hold their usual monthly meeting at three o'clock. i The altars were very beautiful last Sunday, the work being done by Mrs. J- O'Connor and Miss Elizabeth Cosg-riff. Cosg-riff. All the children of the parish, both boys and girls, must be at the church on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock to practice for the annual coronation ceremony, which takes place on June 1. Parents are requested to send their children to this next rehearsal as it is the last one and only those who have practiced for the ceremony will be allowed al-lowed to take part. Parents are also urged to send their boys as the attendance attend-ance of boys last Sunday was not what it should be. The practice will only last half an hour and all the children of the parish from four years to sixteen, six-teen, should attend. The Knights of Columbus will hold their usual bi-monthly meeting next Wednesday evening, May 28. $ All the children of the choir must attend the rehearsal next Saturdav. to prepare for the annual entertainment, which occurs early next month. The young ladies are going to give a short comedy, entitled "Young Dr. Devine." Rev. Father Morrissey returned from Park City last Wednesday. Rev. Father Mannion of Eureka, New, is a guest at the Episcopal residence resi-dence for a. few days. Rev. Father Kiely baptized the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Duffy Duf-fy last Monday. Miss May Kervin and Master Edward Bonner were the sponsors. spon-sors. Miss Frances Little and Mr. W. J. Halloran acted as sponsors for the members of the confirmation class last Sunday. . I Miss Lottie Owen will repeat her solo of last Sunday, by special request of many members of the congregation, at. the 11 o'clock mass on Sunday. The annual coronation ceremony by the children will take place at St. Mary's cathedral on Sunday evening, Junee 1, at 7:30. The girls must wear white dresses, white veils and 1 reams. The children from the Kearns' St. Ann's orphan asylum, who made their first communion on Sunday, were entertained en-tertained at breakfast and dinner by Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan. Father Morrissey, whose success in Park City, in the interests of the Intermountain Catholic was phenomenal, phenome-nal, will be in Eureka all next week. We know that he will meet with a host of friends, and it is hoped that his success will equal that which he had in Park City. Bishop Scanlan will administer the sacrament of confirmation in Eureka on Sunday, June 1. After the pontifical high mass last Sunday. Rt. Rev. Bishop Scanlan announced an-nounced the organization of a society for the boys and young men of the cathedral ca-thedral parish. The chief objects of the society is to influence the boys to abstain from the use of tobacco and I all intoxicating liquors. Rev. Father Begley has been appointed by Rt. Rev. Bishop to take charge of the boys and it is hoped that with the co-operation of the parents the society will be productive pro-ductive of much good in the parish. The names of the charter members will be published next week in The Intermountain Intermoun-tain Catholic. |
