Show AT ALL HALLOWS COLLEGE. Reception in Honor of Rev. Father Guinan, the New President. Enthusiasm and the true college spirit was manifest at All Hallows last Tuesday night, when the faculty- and students met on common ground in the assembly hall to give honor to the retiring re-tiring president, Very Rev. Thomas Larkin, and to welcome the new incumbent. in-cumbent. Very Rev. J. J. Guinan. One thine was most nnnarpnt. the ronnlno sincerity of the boys in their respect to their presidents, and they showed the most decided regret that Father Larkin must leave, and at the same time gave Father Guinan a truly cordial cor-dial welcome. The gathering consisted of the faculty, students and a few friends and well wishers of the college, and when all had assembled in the hall a programme of merit was given, j consisting of music by the splendid: band and orchestra under the direction of Professor Pedersen, and special i numbers by Robert Canning, Julius ! Schmidt, John McKenna, Arthur Ped-, Ped-, ersen and Paul McCormick. j Addresses were made by Father Murphy, Father Gilmore, Rev. Father 1 Larkin and Rev. Father Guinan, all ; of which was in the happiest and most ; appropriate vein, and while .Father Larkin spoke in a humorous manner, it could be seen that it .was with true regret that he was severing his con- nectlon with All Hallows, in his welcome wel-come Father Guinan spoke most highly I of fie college, and said that he had heard rf it continually in the east, and was, indeed, glad to get back again to the boys, i v. The whole evening was a most complete, com-plete, sucqess,. and at its conclusion the visitors presenjr were delightfully entertained en-tertained by the faculty. |
