Show Dishonesty in High Places. Addressing the Holy Name society in the Church of the Nativity, Brooklyn, the Rev. J. J. Donlon said that in the business, world it was difficult to find men who are honest, according to the strict interpretation of the word, and that within the last few months financiers finan-ciers whom the people had unhesitatingly unhesitat-ingly intrusted were exposed as knaves. "People are no longer surprised." he said, "at dishonesty in high places. They have come to look upon it as a matter of course, and the phrase 'tainted 'taint-ed money' has become a byword and a jest. We are accustomed to breaches of trust on the part of office-holders and financiers, but when we see these men show a disposition even to use judges of the supreme court to further their selfish ends it is time to call a halt. "Although we may not realize it. this is gradually becoming a pagan nation." |
