Show j INDIANS TO GIVE WAR DANCE. Unique Preliminary to Pioneer Celebration Cele-bration on Monday. Palefaces by the thousands are expected ex-pected at the Salt Palace Saturday night to witness a genuine war dance by 100 Bannocks from the Fort Hall Indian resrvation. The braves will be here for the purpose of taking part in the Pioneer day parade and will come gorgeously bedecked to give a correct representation of Indian life. Sunday afternoon they will give a sacred concert con-cert at the same place, both of which will serve as fitting preliminaries to the Pioneer day celebration on Monday. Saturday afternoon the Indians will play a game of baseball with one of the best teams in Salt Lake, music for the event to be furnished by the Indians' In-dians' brass band, an up-to-date organization. A feature of Monday's parade will be , the Indians, seventy-five bucks, twenty-five squaws, and a number of cute, little papooses'. In line will also be survivors- of the original Pioneer band in automobiles. Pioneer handcarts, hand-carts, pony express riders, .veterans of the Nauvoo Legion. Mormon Battalion, Indian wars. Spanish-American war and United States soldiers. There will also be six brass bands engaged specially speci-ally for the occasion. The main portion of the parade will show the historical and industrial growth of the state since its settlement iu 1S47. At various points in the line handcarts and wagons that took part in the journey across the plains will be seen, while space will be allowed the pony express riders and others to depict de-pict the perils that attended transportation trans-portation and life generally in the early days. Changes since 1S49 will be contrasted by floats showing industrial processes of that period and of the present time. One feature of this section of the parade pa-rade will be the appearance of the first printing press ever brought to Utah. The press will produce facsimiles of the firgt newspaper ever printed in Utah.i copies of "which" will be distributed to the crowd as 'fast as they can be run off. The building of the first homes, pioneer agriculture, treating with the Indians, trappers' adventures,, home life of the Indians, hunting scenes, etc.. all will be portrayed by floats. Many business houses of the city have prepared pre-pared floats showing the advancement made in their particular branches of industry. As previously announced, the celebration cele-bration will take place in Liberty park, beginning Monday at 10 a. m. The committee com-mittee in charge expects an attendance of .10,000 persons. In order to guard against accidents during the' parade, a ""committee of safety" consisting of 200 members, will be named to patrol the line of march. |
