Show STAKE WELFARE COMMITTEE URGES WARD MEMBERS TO BE SUSTAINING SELF-SUSTAINING At a meeting held last night inthe in inthe inthe the Cedar City L. L D. D S. S First Ward church members of the Parowan Stake Welfare Committee Issued a plea to members of the ward to carry out the advice given by the church authorities some two taro years ao when they advised all members of the church to conserve food and clothing and otherwise put themselves themselves themselves them them- selves in a position to take care I IOle of themselves without help from the Ole government of the United States The Church Welfare Plan which has been carried out for several years years is two First it ls is the aim of the church to provide storehouses storehouses storehouses store store- houses in which can be stored all surplus food clothing and other supplies as an Insurance fund which can be drawn on for any emergency or disaster which may overtake the people of the church and which cannot be handled lo- lo 4 ally cally The church has recently completed completed completed com com- a big grain elevator in Salt Lake City which can hold bushels of wheat In addition to this there are a canning center and a clothing supply store In Salt Lake City Supplementing these are regional and stake warehouses Into the regional storehouses the surplus of the stake stores will be put and behind these is the central storehouse in Salt Lake City The second aim of the Welfare Plan is to get the family in its own home as far as possible to put Itself Itsel on a sustaining self-sustaining basis by providing if possible for a years year's supply of food and clothing President William R.
