The Daughters of the Pioneers held their meeting Wednesday in honor of the memory of Mrs. Hanna Watts Handy. One of the first company of pioneers to come to Franklin. The lesson was given by Bertha Woodwai-d which was followed by a program given by the descendant descend-ant of Sister Handy. Out of" town guests, descendants of Sister Handy were: Mrs. Nora Dailies of Logan, Mrs. Edna, Jessie and Barbara Larson of Cove; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Beckstead ' and Mrs. Coburn and two daughters, all of Whitney, Mrs. Nettie Handy and Mrs. Moser of Preston. The program was as follows: Song by Mrs. Edna and Jessie Larson Lar-son of Cove accompanied by Bar bara Larson; history of Sister Handy, Han-dy, written by S. J. A t.aest. speaker will discuss "The Experience Expe-rience Program in the School." All parents and teachers are urged to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Marlow Woodward entertained in their new homo uTi-day uTi-day evening. Luncheon was served on small tables and the color scheme of pink and green was carried car-ried out. Progressive Rook was the diversion of the evening wii'n prizes being awarded to Mrs. Leonard Leon-ard Nelson and James Bair. The Ladies Literary club is planning plan-ning another soci " id tea in (be near future to reii...Jurse the funds that were lost in the fire which destroyed the Joe Hatch home last spring. Mrs. Hatch was secretary of the club. Representative and Mrs. Wallace Olsen returned home Saturday from Boise where Mr. Olsen has attended the state legislature for the past two months. Oscar Peterson Pe-terson accompanied them home. He has been employed at the slate capitol for the past two months. James Robinson, Franklin's oldest old-est and esteemed citizen celebrated his 91st birthday at his home on Monday, March 10th. Members of his family called during the day and manT friends also. Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are both enjoying good health. Mrs. C. B. Blamires entertained the Bridge club at her home in Preston, Monday evening. The club members met at Merrill's Mer-rill's tea room where lunch was served after which they returned to the Blamire home and bridge |
