Members of l.hc Preston Literary club enjoyed an entertaining afternoon aft-ernoon at (lie home of Mrs. Clifford W'arr last Thursday. Mis. G. C. Kilgore gave an interesting inter-esting review of the book "The Beloved lieturns" by Thomas Mnmi. Luncheon was served at the close of the afternoon to twenty guests. RAONA CLUI! MEETS ITU MRS. ROE Mrs. Lonsdale Iioe was hostess to members of the Itaona club at her home last Saturday evening. Flowers centered the three tables ta-bles at which the luncheon was served. Bridge was the diversion ot tho evening with Mrs. Lloyd llogge winning high score honors and Mrs. Lewis Roe low. THURSDAY CLUP. HOLDS MEET An afternoon of bridge was en-i en-i joyed by members of the Thursday club! last week at the home of Mrs. Bill McCune. A dessert luncheon was served at the beginning of the afternoon lollowed by contract with Mrs. Ralph SI rub and Mrs. Nowlin Hale winning score honors. BOO MALIE CLUR' HAS BRIDGE LUNCHEON, Members and guests of the Boo Malie club were guests at the home of Mrs. Frank McAllister Friday evening. Guests of the club were Mrs. Harley Greaves, Mrs. W. D. Mc-Clellan Mc-Clellan andi Mrs. Allen R. Cutler. Following a luncheon served at three tables bridge was the diversion diver-sion of the evening with Mrs. Allen Cutler winning high score honors and Mrs. Howard Johnson the all-cut all-cut prize. BRIDGE CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. CARLSON Mrs. Alvin Carlson entertained Wednesday evening for bridge associates as-sociates at her home. Centering the tables at which the luncheon was served were cleverly arranged flowers. Mrs. Orvid Culler and Mrs. Gay-lord Gay-lord Larson won score honors at the evening of contract. MRS. PICKETT IS ' HONORED AT DINNER Mrs. Mildred T. Pickett, was the honoree at a family dinner given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Q. Taylor last Friday evening. Mrs. Pickett lefu Monday for Las Vegas, Nevada, where she will join her husband. They plan to make their home in Nevada. DELITIIANS PIOLD ANNUAL BANQUET Thota Nu Chapter of Delphian held their annual meeting and election ofoflicers at a charmingly arranged banquet meeting at Paul's cafe last Thursday evening. "Famous Women In History" was the central theme of the banquet ban-quet with each member giving a short sketch of some leading woman wom-an in history. Individual favors followed fol-lowed the same theme. Mrs. Virgil Rorabaugh was toastmistress. Musical numbers Were presented by Mrs. C. M. Crablree who sang, Mrs. John Webber, Miss Radia Morrison, and Miss Ivona Barton in an instramental trio. New officers elected were Mrs. Larry Robinson, president; Mrs. Ezra Foss, vice-president; Mrs. Virgil Rorabaugh, secretary, and Mrs. George Egbert, seminar leader. lead-er. CLUB ENTERTAINED AT HOGGAN HOME Saturday afternoon Mrs. Albert lloggan entertained club associates at her home. A dessert lunch was served. Prizes went to Mrs. Earl Nelson and Mrs. Virgil Knudsen. NEAVLY" WEDS AREt HONORED Mr. and Mrs. Kimber Hansen were guests of honor at a party given for them by tho employees of the Preston J. C. Penney store at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Strub Wednesday evening. A dinner was served to the twenty twen-ty guests. The table at which the dinner was served was centered with a beautiful bouquet of pastel flowers in a pastel bowl. ANNOUNCE WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Walker announce the marriage of their daughter, Elva, to Glen Gibbon. The couple was married February 2S at Dayton. Ada R. Nelson returned Monday after a three weeks' business and pleasure trip to Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.' She reports a business boom on the coast as a result of increased activity in the defense industries. California's "unusual" weather included some of the most violent rain storms she had ever witnessed. Her sister, Mrs. Hazel Luthi of Freedom, Wyoming, accompanied her. |
