Show Leadership Week Closes With Record Attendance HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL CIVIC MEET CLOSES Capacity Attendance On Hand For 3-Day Sessions Franklin county's first annual "Leadership Week" featuring some of the outstanding speakers of Idaho Ida-ho and Utah came to a successlnl close here Wednesday evening alter alt-er chalking up a record attendance that exceeded all expectations oi the 'Civic committees in charge. 1 Capacity crowds overflowed the high, school auditorium for the general gen-eral sessions on, the final two days and attendance at the departmental departmen-tal sessions were exceptionally good. A sell-out for Uie one-evening presentation of "Mr. Congressman," Con-gressman," a community play, necessitated ne-cessitated a second performance on Thursday evening. Excellent crowds were present for the PTA sponsored spon-sored performance of the opera "Faust" presented by the TJSAC on Monday night, and for the Leadership Lead-ership Week dance at the Franklin Stake House on Tuesday evening. Registration committee members mem-bers estimated that from 1,299 to 1.300 persons were in attendance during some of the sessions, and that the average attendance figure would probably be close to 1,000. Speakers for the general sessions ses-sions included Dr. Adam S. Bennion, Ben-nion, assistant to the president of the Utah Power and Light company com-pany of Salt Lake City; Dr. John Edward Carver of the First rres-byterian rres-byterian church of Ogden; Dr. Ray J. Davis, professor at University of Idaho Sou'AjVi; E. J. ladings, :Deaji of College, of Agriculture, University of Idaho; Dr. Thomas L. Martin, Dean of College, of Applied Ap-plied Science BYU at Provo; and Dr. E. G. Peterson, President USAC at Logan. Speakers for the departmental sessions were from all sections of Utah and Idaho and numbered 35 Subjects covered in the departmental depart-mental sessions included farming forestry, handicrafts, education recreation, . scout leadership citizenship, citi-zenship, economic and political problems, social problems and religion. re-ligion. n |
