Show VACCINE IS, URGED FOR FEVER THREAT "It has been stated that the best way to win a fight is to get in the first blow. The same method applies ap-plies to the fight against Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Fighting fire with fire is an old story, hut fighting a germ! with germs is comparatively com-paratively new." The spotted fever is carried by the( Rocky Mountain wood tick and they transmit the infection to the human. A mild winter and an early spring gives the tick a running run-ning start. It comes out, of hiding a few weeks ahead of schedule and begins to run amuck. Before it begins be-gins its summer work we have time to get in the first blow and fight fire with fire. L. J. Peterson, State Bacteriologist, has announced that the vaccina for the 1941 season sea-son is now available. Employes whose work necessitates necessi-tates exposure to the ticks should be urged to obtain the vaccine; , especially es-pecially those who sheep, in logging log-ging camps, in mines, and too, for those who on their day off goes on picnics, hikes or in any way come in contact with sagebrush, underbrush under-brush or thick patches of weeds. This vaccine is a service of the State Bacteriology department and costs absolutely nothing, however it should be administered by a physician. |
