I Maurine Riggs, Reporter I j ; 7!- j Last Thursday Madame' Hiene, of 1 San Francisco, gave a lecture oh art, j and the use of color in dress and in i decorating homes. The lecture was I given in the high school and the stu-: stu-: dents received it3 benefits. i . j The seniors gave their first assembly assem-bly last Friday. The program consisted consist-ed of: Prayer, Ilean Hansen; talk, Principal Bardsley; . stunts by Grace Eggertsen, McEwan Voorhees, Niel Buchanan, Merrill Nelson, Rulon Petty, Pet-ty, Eldon Mclff and Wendell Hill, of the senior class; tap dance, Dorothy Borg; vocal solo, Mr. Perkins. A debating team from the senior speech class carried on a debate for the Womens' Democratic club rvt the i home of Mrs. August Villard, Friday. The question under discussion wasi: "Resolved, that the voters of Utah should vote for the 21st amendment." Those of the affirmative side were: Carl Swalberg and Maurine Riggs; Those of the negative side were Ilean Hansen and Iral Despain. Mr. Britsch, the speech teacher, acted as chairman of the debate. The high school girls' Waconda club held its annual "Girls' Jarr.bor-e" Friday Fri-day night. It was celcbrat d this year as a "hobby party.'- The girls came dressed to represent their hobby. They were first entertained by a picture projected by the high school's new picture pic-ture machine. The next event was a program with the following parts: Vocal duet, Louise Myrup and LnRue Roberts; one-act play, Maxine Larson and THvila Pritchett; prognostication, Maurine Riggs; vocal chorus, Sylvia Tuft, Iona Fjeld.sted, Letha Hansen and Doris Barlow. The girls enjoyed dancing, games and light refresh-' ments during the remainder of the evening. j |
