Show Wei! Known Veteran Has Arm Amputated Dan B. Funk, 61, is at the Salina hospital and is making a gallant recovery re-covery as a result of having his right arm amputated) about three inches above the elbow. Dr. G. Stanford Rees, assisted by Dr. C. Leo Merrill, performed the operation Thursday of last week, and Mr. Funk's recovery has been so highly satisfactory that he expects to return to his former home at Centerfield the last of this week. Mr. Funk, who has been caretaker of the floodgates at the Gunnison Irrigation Ir-rigation company's reservoir for two and a half years, accompanied by Mrs. Funk, were out gathering wood and in some mann-r, while handling a piece of wood, Mr. Funk slightly bruised the little finger, which later gave him much pain. Local applications applica-tions were mnde, but the results' were of no avail. Dr. Rees1 was called and he diagnosed the case as diabetic gan-green gan-green poisoning. Mr. Funk has been a sufferer for many years from diabetes, dia-betes, and the poison spread rapidly until the operation was found necessary. neces-sary. Mr..
