Show Leo Bardsley Is Named Commander Leo D. Bardsley, principal for the Gunnison Valley high school, and veteran of the late world war, was chosen commander of Gunnison Guard Mount, post 104, American Legion, at a reorganization of the local Legionnaires Legion-naires at a meeting held at the City hall Monday evening. Additional officers of-ficers selected to serve for the .coming .com-ing year were: B. A. Madsen, vice-commander; vice-commander; Mina Beauregard, adjutant; adju-tant; Ross A. Peterson,, chaplain, and Bill Stubbs, sergeant-at-arms. A full complement of officers were not chosen chos-en at Monday's election but will, with an executive board, be named later. An intensive drive is to be waged at once and Centerfield, Axtell, Sterling and Mayfield will, in all probability, be affiliated with the Gunnison post. With members from the towns named within the ranks, the balance of the officers and the executive board will be completed. One of the important issues discussed, dis-cussed, after making the selection of officers, vas the care of the former for-mer veterans who are now suffering from wounds received in war time, or those in ne td of care as a result of sickness contracted during the time of service. There are a few cases, it was announced, and members of Gunnison Gun-nison Guafd Mount will seek the names and see to it that proper at-' tention is given. Those who are in need of care are asked to get in touch with Mina Beauregard, the ncwly-electod adjutant. Tentative plans were discussed for the tbserva;ice of Armistice day, which will mark one of the big events of the former world war vcteians. Committees will be named and it is proposed to make the celebration here an event long. to be remembered. |
