Show Sevier County Lad Wins Coveted Prize The first two students selected to represent individual states in the round-the-world telephone conversation conversa-tion to take place on Goodwill day, May 18, under the auspices of the World Federation of Education Associations Asso-ciations in cooperation with the National Na-tional Council for Prevention of War. was announced last night by Dr. Augustus Au-gustus O. Thomas, president of the former organization. Martha Matthews, whose name was first to reach the World Federation headquarters, is a senior in the Columbia, Col-umbia, S. C, high school, has the ; highest scholarship rating in her class, represented her high school in the State English contest of 1930, is editor-in-chief of her school annual, and was elected valedictorian of hp class. Boyd Bench of the North Sevier Sev-ier high school, Salina, Utah, will represent rep-resent his state. Mr. Bench won the Ashman Award this year for public address on the subject "Progress Toward To-ward World Peace." It is expected that New York will be represented by one of Lieutenant Governor Lehman's children. In New York it is very probable that the conversation con-versation will be carried on from the Governor's office in the capitol. This novel world telephone conversation conver-sation will have the capitals of the world as focal points.
