Show Faulty Lighting Is Banned for Autos Night drivers of automobiles, with defective lights in any shape or form - - are warned. Woe be unto the man or woman who heedlessly drives along the highway at night and fails to "dim" or carries a single light, no lights at all, or lights defective in any form. The law is after the violators, vio-lators, and none will escape. This declaration dec-laration has been made by the state officers who would further the safety of auto drivers, and the aid of officers offi-cers throughout Utah has been urged to force regard by those drivers who wantonly disobey the laws. The state motor vehicle laws are plain on this act, and a movement has been started start-ed to have citizens respect it. Those who do not cooperate are to suffer the consequences and the punishment will not be easy. The state's mortality in auto accidents acci-dents thus far in 1931 is starting with astounding fierceness. Inferior lights are not responsible for all the deaths but contribute much, and this one measure is to be enforced to curtail fatalities. Speeding through towns, particularly in the smaller communities, goes on unabated. "Road hogs" are still a menace to life and safety. Disregard for the "other man" is daily seen along the highways. Parking on the highway while repairing repair-ing tires or making some adjustments strictly against the law is yet practiced. All of these laws, enacted for the safety of the responsible driver, are to be rigidly enforced, and today or tonight look out for your lights have them adjusted, regulated regulat-ed and fitted with globes before a sheriff bears down upon you and "soaks" you a heavy fine. Sheriff Ed. Peterson for Sanpete county, has issued a timely warning and he asks the full cooperation of auto drivers in aiding in putting over the meritorius campaign. Arrangements Ar-rangements have been made with the Duggins Sendee station in Gunnison, and the , Gunnison Valley Motor company com-pany at Centerfield, for testing inferior in-ferior lights. This service is offered free, but a nominal charge will be made if work is necessary to adjust the lights. |
