Show Irrigation Company AddstoWaterSupply At a .special meeting of the directors direc-tors of the Piute Reservoir & Irrigation Irriga-tion company, held at the main offices of-fices in Salina Monday night, applications appli-cations for water, which will be rented rent-ed during the coming growing season, was under consideration. Approximately Approxi-mately 7,500 acre-feet along the state canal has been applied for, according to Ira Overfelt and Conrad Frisch-knecht, Frisch-knecht, board members, who were present at the meeting. At the reservoir, reser-voir, located in Piute county, some G.500 acres are now available for use in Sevier and Sanpete counties. Brice McBride, Sevier river water commissioner, and who attended the meeting of the board at Salina, gave a comprehensive report of the water conditions in the various reservoirs, j His compilation showed that while not as much water will be available for the 1933 season as in 1932, there will be a greater supply than in 1931. The commissioner stated that "Pan-g-uitch lake should supply more water than last year, as it is now 6.5 feet higher than a year ago at this time, and within three feet of last year's high water mark." Concerning the Richfield valley, Commissioner McBride stated that "supplies for companies depending on Ottter creek storage and class A rights will average from 70 per cent to 75 per cent of last season's supply. Class B and class C water rights will probably get some water, but it will be less than last year." Rocky Ford canal and the Higgins decree, class A rights, will receive not less than last year, and probably more. Classes B, C, D, E and F will receive more than last year. The Sevier bridge reservoir now contains the same supply as a year ago, 89,280 acre-feet, while the Piute storage is some better than a year ago. Storms after April 1 will better all rights with the exception of Sevier Sev-ier bridge storage, which has all possible pos-sible unless there is an exceptionally wet summer, he stated. The water commissioner said it is extremely difficult to make accurate estimates of the probable water supply sup-ply at this time, due to the fact that before April 1 only 42 per cent of i the season's precipitation is received. During April, May and June another 18 per cent will be received and the balance of 40 per cent comes during the months of July, August and September. Sep-tember. These percentages are based upon past records. |
