Power company and the Utah Power & Light company's electrical power at the big station in Gunnison wc; accomplished last week, and toda;.T power is available from the upstato company in case of e:nergenc;r through break-downs or inability t.v -upply power for any reason, through lhe medium of the Telluride Powsr v.mpany, supplying power for sever--1 counties in Southern Utah. The connecting of the two power companies com-panies means much for the southern country and is an advance on the p."rt of the two concerns. The expansion ex-pansion of the Telluride Power company com-pany service, which has shewn a wonderful growth during the past few years, the demand for increased 'ower through the building of big industries in-dustries such as mining and other individual in-dividual demands, necessitated the 'ncrease. Gunnison was chosen as the cen-"r?l cen-"r?l distr'buting point, and as a result re-sult the huge transformers and other necessary paraphernalia have been installed at the station here. A new 'ransformer, weighing 21,000 pounds, has been placed at the Gunnison station. sta-tion. The transformer is now in place and all connections have been made. In addition, an automatic oil switch or relay, one of the latest in modern appliances, new meters and panel board, are some of the new additions to the plant. The panel board and o'lier appliances are housed and protected from the elements. L. R. Fournier, g-eneral superintendent superin-tendent for the Telluride Power company, com-pany, and who spent several days here this week, stated that a lii'cH fence would be erected around the station, thus affording absolute safety. safe-ty. Loitering around the plant, J!r. Fournier stated, is a dangerous practice, prac-tice, and we want to give warniiuf to all to avoid danger. |
