Show Southern Resorts Officialy Opened According to reports from the office of-fice of the Superintendent of Zion National Park, all of the features of the great scenic loop in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona including includ-ing along the route of one tour two National Parks, two National Monuments, Monu-ments, three National Forests, and , one Indian Reservation will be available to visitors at the official start of the tourist season on June 1st. All approach roads leading to Zion National Park arc in excellent condition, while motorists have been driving to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon for the past three weeks. The road across the Kaibab Plateau is reported report-ed as being rough but passable, and the main approach road to Bryce as being in excellent condition. The road over Cedar Mountain to Cedar Breaks will be open on June 1st, and, although some snow may be found at the higher elevations, the ! highway should be in very good con- j dition by this date. I Zion Lodge has been open since j May 13th. Bryce Canyon Lodge was opened Tuesday, and accomodations on the North Rim will be available after June 1st. Public Camp grounds are also in readiness to accomodate visitors. Judged from pre-season travel to Zion Park, the area will break all records for the number of tourists this season. To date a total of 7,013 people have visited the park compared com-pared to 2,927 for the same period last year, an increase of 126 per cent. Although definite figures are not available, reports indicate a very heavy increase in traffic at other centers. |
