Show Licenses Cheaper. Than Paying Fines Violations of the state fish and game laws, according to advices coming com-ing from the offices of State Fish and Game Commissioner D. H. Mad-sen, Mad-sen, are to be vigorously prosecuted and with the coming opening of the j fish regulations, strict attention is ' to be given to all fishing without a license or catching fish out of sea- j son. Deputy wardens who have j been scouting the streams have ap- j prehended seven men who were fish- j ing without a license. The seven were arrested and paid fines of $25 each. Two of the men reported are ' from Gunnison, R. W. Willardson ; and G. M. Sorenson. The other five violators were E. E. Lee of American Ameri-can Fork; Joe Bush, Delta; Elbert Roberts and E. M. Brown of Kanosh, and J. W. Raisch of Ephraim. The arrests were made by Deputy Wardens War-dens R. S. Terry and Joe Allen. . J To fish for any kind of fish in Utah one must have a license ac- j cording to Mr. Madsen, and "ignorance "ignor-ance of the law" will be no excuse, as the fish and game department is determined to compel all to comply with the state regulations. Many have thought that they do not need j licenses to fish for the common types of fish, such as carp, suckers, mullet and catfish, but the law requires it and the state department has declar-' i ed that arrests will follow anyone I violating the provisions. I Deputy wardens have been stationed station-ed in all parts of the state and all have been instructed to arrest any and all found fishing without a li-1 cense. The license costs two dollars, j and to violate the law costs any-! where from $25 to $100 or more. Mr. Madsen has announced that it ! is a violation of the state law to fish for catfish in the Sevier river, Utah lake or the Jordon river. |
