Show Golden Wedding Celebrated Here Fifty years ago last Monday Miss Emma Jane Knighton and W. H. Gribble, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, and the happy pair have triumphed in health and happiness which carried them to their Colden wedding anniversary appropriately celebrated with pomp and ceremony at the Gribble home in this city Sunday afternoon. The affair af-fair proved the real social event of early summer and the honored guests were showered with congratulations congrat-ulations and best wishes. Daughters and daughters-in-law, I including Mrs. W. J. Gribble, Mrs. Edna Bird, Mrs. II. M. Gribble, Mrs. Elmer Nielson, Mrs. Niel Sor-I Sor-I enson and Mrs. J. B. Gribble, were I the hostesses at the reception and I banquet, given as a compliment to j Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gribble. A ban-I ban-I quet, served at three o'clock Sunday ! afternoon, proved the real feature. Some forty-five guests were seated a long table, ladened with appetizing appetiz-ing goodies of every description. For ' more than an hour the time was enjoyed en-joyed in feasting and matters were ' enlivened with reminiscenses of the early days and through the life of j the honored guests. Readings and j musical numbers also added zest to the occasion and throughout the banquet ban-quet happiness prevailed, j The guests included immediate relatives and intimate friends in Gunnison and from outside points. ; Those from other cities attending the golden wedding anniversary celebration were Mr. and Mrs. E. H. ! Bird and the Misses Elma and Helen Bird of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Hans j C. Tuft of Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. 'James Metcalf and Mr. and Mrs. j Conrad Whiting, Salt Lake City; Mr. 'and Mrs. J. W. Kearney of Stockton. Mr. and Mrs. T. O. H. Bogalsky of! 1 Seattle, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kim-1 i ball, of Salt Lake, were prevented from attending the anniversary due i to illness. Mrs. Bogalsky and Mrs. j j Kimball are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gribble. Messages from ! the absent relatives were received j and read at the banquet table. Mr. and Mrs. Gribble, the honored I guests, in addition to receiving the best wishes and congratulations on reaching their fiftieth wedding anniversary, an-niversary, were the recipients of a I "gold shower," which totalled . near the century mark. |
