Show FRESH ALFALFA GREENS DZIICIOUS, NOURISHING An editor, evidently in class with all editors during the depressing times unable to collect a few sub- scriptions has hit on an idea that the bunch from The News office will try, and most likely adopt. It pertains to a -new and very, very cheap food. The following- is the quotation from our brother: In any other times than these the following- item would not be printed, as there would be no need for it. In view of present conditions the editor feels that the following might be a slight contribution to public welfare. Many may be surprised to know that the young green shoots of alfalfa are perfectly good for food, cooked in exactly the same manner as you would prepare e,ny other greens such as spinach, dandelion, beet greens, etc. Alfalfa is just as palatable and just as nourishing. Like spinach, its iron content is high and for that reason one will eat it with relish for a time and later tire of it. If ycu are skeptical about it, just try it. |
