Some time during Wednesday night or. early Thursday morning, some one, perhaps the thieves, raided the garage belonging to Ira Overfelt, cashier for the Gunnison Valley bank, and drained two cars of their gas. Friday evening Sheriff Ed. J. Peterson Pe-terson and County Attorney C, M. Edwards, linking slight information of the theft of the Greenleaf auto, left for Salt Lake, and it was while on this mission that Mr. Edwards met with an accident that caused his death Saturday. The matter, however, was turned over to Salt Lake officers offi-cers and a close watch is being made in the hopes of running down the thieves. Mclntyre, proprietor of the drug store, purchased the property about : three months ago. His plans were to ; take out burglary insurance, but lie had not completed the deal, and his j losses are not protected. |
