Show Impressive Rites For CM. Edwards True testimony of respect and love was strongly pronounced Wednesday afternoon for Clinton M. Edwards, when final rites were held for the unfortunate un-fortunate man who met a tragic death as a result of an automobile accident. ac-cident. The Gunnison Valley High school, where a legion of friends and associates had gathered, was crowded crowd-ed to capacity, and many were forced forc-ed to stand. Men with strong hearts, women with that affectionate love, and even the hearts of the boys and girls were biterly stung, and eyes were moistened with sorrow as the last rites were read for the loving husband and father, and the friend to all. Never in the history of Gunnison was there more respect shown, and never before had there been such a loving tribute of love and affection expressed as those by the floral offerings. of-ferings. Banked high about the casket cas-ket and piled high on the stage of the auditorium were clusters upon clusters clus-ters of beautiful flowers, sending forth a fragrance that softened the solemn stillness. Bishop Leslie Kidman, of the Gunnison Gun-nison ward, was in charge of. the services. ser-vices. Following the opening selection by the choir, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," Some-where," invocation was offered by President Chas. Hansen. Other appropriate ap-propriate musical numbers were a sclo, "I Have Read of a Beautiful City," by Mrs. Elton Sorenson; duet, "Cast Thy Bread Upon the Waters," Miss Geneal Brown and Mrs. J. E. Metcalf; violin solo, Easton Moffitt, of Manti; vocal duet, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," Harold Bradley and Sam Parry of Manti, and the closing hymn by the choir, "Shall I Receive a Welcome Wel-come There." J. A. Hougaard of Manti- was the principal speaker. Chas. Rasmussen, H. A. Kearrft and Bishop Kidman also gave brief talks. The life of Mr. Edwards was eulogized in the highest high-est terms, and was carried from his boyhood . days to the high, pinnacle which he had reached. All of the business houses were closed at 1:30, thus allowing those who desired, to attend the funeral services. Members of the city council of Gunnison and members of the Gunnison Lions club, together with practically all of the county officials, were present in groups. Resolutions of respect from the Gunnison city council and from the county officers, were read by B. A. Madsen for the city, and by Ernell J. Mortensen for the county officials. Benediction was pronounced by La-Briel La-Briel Pickett. At the conclusion . of the services the long funeral cortege was formed and all that was mortal of Mr. Edwards Ed-wards was tenderly carried to the Gunnison cemetery where burial rites were held. Hyrum Christensen of Mayfield dedicated the grave. |
