Show Local Schools Plan For Graduation Festivities Commencement exercises for the' Gunnison Valley high school, the ! Washington grade school of Gunnison and the Lincoln grade school at Cen-, terf ield, all to be held during the 1 coming week, will mark the closing of one of the most successful terms held in years. The corps of teachers, the interest shown by the students and the unusual interest shown by patrons and citizens, has been a big factor in the success that has been achieved. Many students are biddin? for the coveted diplomas from the high school, and many from the grade schools, who will enter high school studies with the opening of the term this coming fall, are eagerly awaiting the exercises when their promotion will be announced. At the high school conditions have been highly pleasing and twenty-six students, thirteen boys and thirteen girls, will be awarded diplomas, justj two less in number than were graduated gradu-ated last year. Washington School. Commencement exercises for the eighth grade of the Washington school will be held Wednesday evening eve-ning of next week at the Gunnison high school auditorium, beginning promptly at 8 otdock. Commencement exercises for the high school will be held at 8:30 p. m. Thursday, May 14, at the high school auditorium. Dr. Joel E. Ricks, who was principal of the first high school established in Gunnison, and when sessions were held in the old Relief society hall, is scheduled to give the address to the graudates. Dr. Ricks is at present professor of history at the Agricultural college at Logan, and his return to Gunnison for this special occasion will be greeted by his old friends. Twenty-six students will be awarded award-ed diplomas of graduation from the Lincoln school at Centerfield next Wednesday evening. The exercises will be held at the Centerfield ward chapel at 8 o'clock, and Principal C. Dewey Lund is desirous of having school patrons and all interested in school work attend the exercises.
