Show WONDER WHY THIS WAS OVERLOOKED? The metropolitan newspapers of the country gave a, great deal of attention at-tention to the stand of the American Legion convention majority on the bonus and beer. Wonder how it happens that they overlooked the action of the Legion on the League Court and national defense ? A subcommittee of the Detroit convention con-vention voted two to one against consideration con-sideration of a resolution endorsing the League Court. The full committee turned it down by a vote of thirteen to six. The Legion convention also adopted ringing resolutions in favor of adequate ade-quate national defense, but some way or other these resolutions were not considered worthy of mention by the reporters covering the meeting or else they vrent into the wastebasket before they reached the newspapers of the country. There is something significant1 sinister in this suppression of important impor-tant news. Is it possible that there are powerful forces in this country which are trying to slip things over on the American people by chloroforming chloro-forming majority sentiment? If so, it may safely be assumed that there is no purpose either honest or patriotic behind such a movement. Propaganda may consist either in spreading lies or suppressing the truth. European politics has long been familiar with the system of deluding de-luding the people by hiding or destroying des-troying the facts. We see the result. America is being introduced to these Machiavellian methods employed on a large scale, and utilizing agencies from which the people of the country have a right to expect something better.
