Show Washington Posters For All School Rooms Announcement has been made by Congressman Don B. Colton that every schoolroom of every school in his district have now or will within a few weeks receive a beautiful portrait-poster of George Washington, executed in colors. The portrait to be used in these posters is a reproduction of the famous fam-ous Gilbert Stuart Anthenaeum painting paint-ing and wiH be 22 inches by 28 inches inch-es in size. This poster was selected after a good deal of study, and is considered the finest example of poster making available. The poster pictures featuring George Washington are being distributed dis-tributed by Congressman Colton in cooperation with the United States George Washington Bicentennial commissioner com-missioner of Washington, D. C, in order to stimulate interest among the thousands of school children of ths district in the coming nine-month celebration cel-ebration of the two hundredth anniversary anni-versary of the Father of Our Country. Congressman Colton is in constant touch with the activities of the United Unit-ed States George Washington Bicentennial Bicen-tennial commission, which was created cre-ated by Congress to formulate and execute plans for the great celebration celebra-tion in 1932. The United States commission is placing a good deal of emphasis on the cooperation of the school children of America in this historic event. This poster-picture is just one feature fea-ture of its work. Congressman Colton announced that he will see to it that the schools, clubs, churches, fraternal and patriotic pat-riotic organizations in his district will be adequately supplied with literature liter-ature to be issued by the United States George Washington Bicentennial Bicenten-nial commission. The George Washington Bicentennial Bicenten-nial celebration will begin on February Feb-ruary 22, 1932, and will last until the following Thanksgiving- day. |
