Show Childs Descendants Hold Annual Picnic One hundred or more descendants of the William Childs organization enjoyed a gala time at the forks in Twelve Mile canyon last Saturday, it being the annual reunion of the family. fam-ily. By ten o'clock the masses had arrived ar-rived and the scene of the meeting was a busy place when acquaintances were renewed and greetings were extended. ex-tended. After a brief visit, a business session was held, at which officers were chosen for the coming year. The old officers were again reelected, as follows: W. B. Childs, president; L. L. Childs, first vice-president; Mrs. Floyd Childs, second vice-president; and C. H. Childs, secretary-treasurer. In the naming of the committees, Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson were put in charge of the recreation committee; Ed. S. Childs, chairman temple committee. com-mittee. Herbert Childs, chairman genealogical gen-ealogical committee; Erma Lunde-berg, Lunde-berg, chairman historical committee; Mrs. Leola Edwards, reporter. Following the naming of the year officers, a brief, but interesting, program pro-gram was given, and included the following fol-lowing numbers: Invocation, John Peterson; Pe-terson; welcome address, W. B. Childs, president; reading, Deon Childs; trio selection, Higham sisters; Hawaiian songs, with soloists in costumes, cos-tumes, Deon Childs, Norma Edwards, Clay Childs and Francis Childs; reading, read-ing, Nelda Childs; cowboy songs, Ed. Higham and Gerald Childs; stuttering song, C. H. Childs; harmonica selection, selec-tion, Alta Childs; reading, "History of Childs Family," Ed. Childs; selection, selec-tion, Misses Donna, Ilia, Francis, Clay, Jean, Deon and Alta Childs and Norma Edwards. With the conclusion of the pro- j gram, old and young were "aching" 1 for dinner and soon the tables and shady spots were spread with all that goes to make a delicious luncheon and what a feast! Games, races, and stunts were features of the late evening, eve-ning, and at sundown the happy group wended their way to their homes happy, but tired. |
