Show After Commission, Latest By W.D.R. The people of Central and Southern South-ern Utah are wondering "just how, if at all, Bill Rishel and his automobile association ( ? ) are tied up with San Francisco interests. They can't understand un-derstand why Rishel plays up the Wendover and Snowyille routes to the extent he does, to the distinct disadvantage of the best interests of the state. Why he should send tourists tour-ists through these meagerly populated populat-ed and semi-barren district's, when there is a spendlid highway extending extend-ing north and south through the state touching all the important It'owns and cities and making direct contact with the state's scenic centers cen-ters Some of the Salt Lake business busi-ness men, who seem to think that Bill is "the cat's whiskers" when it comes to road matters, have business interests in Southern Utah that they can ill afford to antagonize. They had better remind their friend Bill of this fact and tell him to forget it Bill also seems itb take exception to the fact that some of the towns and cities of the south have been paved and that the state road commission com-mission has assisted them wherever consistent with proper procedure. In retaliation for this, it is now reported re-ported that Bill is fixing to eliminate elimi-nate the commission and take charge of ttoe road department himself. That is, if he can get the incoming legislature legis-lature to see it that way. Of course no one takes this seriously and it only goes to show how completely 1 he is captivated with a sense of his j own importance. Bill has "the nerve j and gall of a burglar," however, and j can be expected to try some of his high-handed methods with the legislature. legis-lature. Wouldn't we of Southern j Utah hawe a fine time of it with i Bill at the helm of the road department depart-ment ? We' are not dead down this -way, neither are we sleeping, and if he tries anything of that sort his roseate expectations will have a most serious setback. We are watching !you, Bill. |
