Show Womens Club Plan Community Tree Plans for a community Christmas trte, the awarding of medals for efficiency ef-ficiency and public speaking with students of the Gunnison Valley high . .-.chocl competing, planning year activities ac-tivities and e.njoying a short program pro-gram and a splendid banquet, form-it'he form-it'he busy features at the regular session ses-sion of the Gunnison Business and Professional Women's club meeting at the Wistaria Monday evening of this week. Ten members and three guests were present. Realizing the importance and the gladness that a community Christmas Christ-mas tree brings to the kiddies at the Yuletide season, the club members voted unanimously to start the movement move-ment and to this end the matter was referred to the ways and means committee com-mittee with instructions to start activities ac-tivities at once. Among the methods cf raising funds advanced were a "silver tea," vaudeville show anc " guessing contests. The public too, will be asked to cooperate ir making the tree festivities one of th best ever held in the valley. More details, the committee in charge stated, stat-ed, would be announced later. ,The 'two medals to be offered tc the high school students will b' awarded the student best represent ing the Gunnison Valley high sc-hoo' in efficiency and another medal foi . the most proficient in public speak ing. The details and rules will b announced following the report of the committee named to arrange thr contest. During the luncheon and preceding the business session the memberr enjoyed a brief program, the numbers num-bers being a vocal solo by Miss Bel va Sorenson, a piano solo, Alda Met-calf Met-calf , and a recitation by LavouT Kump. Club songs also tended tc enliven the meeting. A drive for new members is to bf made, and at the next meeting, scheduled sched-uled for November 18, each membe' will be expected to have a prospective prospec-tive member as their special buest a1 the luncheon. |
