Show City Cemetery Needs Attention "When we go to the cemetery on Decoration day to pay reverence to our dear one who have gone to the great beyond, are we to be confronted confront-ed with the disgraceful condition that now exists at that place? I have recently re-cently visited the cemetery and it is really deplorable with the piles of dirt and gravel, limbs from the trees that have been left by careless people peo-ple who trimmed the trees, and other thing that detracts from the beauty of the place. It is time the citizens are taking action and not only place the cemetery in presentable condition condi-tion for Decoration day, but make plans to keep it beautiful and clean at all times." This was the expression expres-sion of a well known Gunnison lady to a News man yesterday morning. Not only has this one complaint been entered as to the deplorable condition condi-tion of the cemetery, but others are complaining of the lack of care that has been given. Decoration day comes on the 30th of this month, or a week from Saturday. Satur-day. Although the time is now somewhat some-what short to arrange for a general cleanup it has been suggested that something be done in the way of ridding rid-ding the place of the unsightly piles of dirt and rubbish before the day arrives for decorating the gravesand paying respect to the loved ones who sleep there. Either Monday or Tuesday of the coming week would be ample time to place the cemetery in better condition. condi-tion. If all interested will gather at the cemetery and have the city supply sup-ply a team and wagon and a scraper, if necessary, it would not take long to clean the plot of the rubbish and debris. |
