Thorpe of the Gunnison Drug company went to Salt Lake Monday, and Tuesday she continued her journey to Southern California. Mrs. Chris Michaelson was pleasantly pleas-antly surprised at her home in Clarion Clari-on last Friday night when a number of her friends gathered "without invitations." in-vitations." A delightful time was enjoyed en-joyed in games, dancing and music. Delicious refreshments were served to twenty guests. Former Mayor J. W. Jones returned return-ed from Salt Lake last evening. He with Mrs. Jones and Bob and Joe Jones, motored to the city last Saturday. Sat-urday. Mrs. Jones and the boys will remain at the capitol for two or three weeks visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Winder. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Duggins mor tored to Salt Lake last Friday to attend the funeral of Andrew Gilbert and John McClosky, close relatives and who met death in the Castlegate axplosion. The funerals were held Sunday and Mr. and Mrs. Duggins j -eturned home the same evening. Miss Thorpe will be absent two weeks or more visiting with her sister, Mrs. W. L. Tollestrup and seeing the wonders of California. Mrs. C. W. Perkins spent yesterday yester-day visiting with relatives at Salina. John Locke of Mt. Pleasant, was here Tuesday looking after business matters. Alvin Sorenson, of the sugar factory fac-tory forces and Monte Sorenson, havt returned from a combined business and pleasure trip to Salt Lake. John T. O'ldroyd, state land commissioner, com-missioner, was a Gunnison visitor for a few hours Monday afternoon. He was on his way to Cedar City in an official capacity. Miss Addie Childs delightfully entertained en-tertained at a kensington at her home last evening. Fancy work and a social time were enjoyed until 11 when refreshments re-freshments were served to ten guests. Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Sanderson, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Broadhead and Mr and Mrs. A. A. Sanderson of Kenil-worth, Kenil-worth, Utah, are in the city for a brief visit to friends and relatives. Garrick Roylance, who has been at McGill, Nevada, for the past eight months, has returned to his home at Centerfield. Garrick will remain here for the summer and will assist his father at the Roylance farm. Rev. A. V. Boand of Mt. Pleasant will conduct the usual semi-monthly services at the Presbyterian chape, in Gunnison next Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. The public is invited to attend. Mt. and Mrs. Alvin Tolestrup and children of Clear Creek, are the guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thompson at Centerfield. Mrs. j Tollestrup will shortly go to Salina i where she will submit to an opera-i opera-i tion for chornic appendicitis. |
