Show Relief Societies Observe Founding The commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of the founding of the Relief society of American was duly celebrated in this city last Monday afternoon and evening. Both the Gunnison and Hamilton wards joined in the celebration and the attendance was unusually large and the programs pro-grams were highly enjoyed. Mrs. Emma Kearns, who gave an exhaustive historical review of the society, was warmly received. Mrs. Kearns gave the history of the founding found-ing of the society 82 years ago and in her talk she highly praised those who were responsible for the upbuilding up-building of the now national organization. organi-zation. "Wonders of good has been accomplished through the society," said Mrs. Kearns, "and by the growth and advancement in all its branches the society will in the future do more wonders." Other' speakers at the afternoon session dwelt on the local conditions and enumerated many noble acts done by the members. The session was enlivened with a number of vocal and instrumental selections and before adjournment delicious de-licious refreshments were served. The anniversary celebration was brought to a climax with a big dance at the high school, auditorium during the j evening. . i |
