Show Speed Demon Runs Amuck; Fined Five Bucks by Judge Woe be to the car driver who disregards dis-regards the city ordinances! Reckless Reck-less driving and non-observance of the regulations in parking, turning at corners and in fact all violations of the city's regulations regarding automobiles are to be enforced. The first to fall in the clutches of the law was Vernal Christensen. Vernal had a mania he hasn't now for trying to out-class Barney Old-field Old-field when driving down Main street. The young man had been cautioned, but without avail and a week ago he was nabbed by Marshall Tollestrup and placed under arrest, the charge being fast driving. Christensen was hailed before Justice Jus-tice of the Peace C. E. Ferre last Saturday and given a hearing. He entered a plea of guilty and was given giv-en a fine of $5. The fine was not all that the "speedster" got. Justice of the Peace Ferre roundly censured the young man and his reckless antics while driving through town. When the fine was announced Christensen was informed that the next violation by him would result in a heavier fine and mabe a revocation of his right to drive an automobile for a stated period. It is well for others about the city to take heed. The guide posts at the intersection of Center and First South streets, were not put there for ornaments. Neither were they put their for any other purpose than to direct traffic. This rule is to be rigidly enforced and due warning is given to all. |
