Show Women's Club Now Ready for Charter Nineteen members were enrolled as charted members of the Business and Professional Women's club of this city at the luncheon given at the Wistaria Thursday evening of last week. The luncheon was held for the purpose of having a membership drive and to make preparations for applying for a. charter for the newly organized club and more than the usual enthusiasm was shown by the members present. It was brought out at the luncheon-meeting that Gunnison now has the largest membership mem-bership of any club in the state, outside out-side of the larger cities. An interesting program was given during the evening, the principal number being the address to the club members by the president, Mrs. Charlotte Villard. Mrs. Villard, in her address, outlined the work of the Business and Professional Women's clubs and stressed upon the importance impor-tance of real cooperation among the members. The objects of the club were given by the speaker, and the multiplicity of opportunities offered in Gunnison were an incentive to a greater work. Mrs. Villard gave a splendid address and was roundly sirvnlsmrtarl at tl-tA pln.co Other features on the program were a vocal solo by Mrs. Emily Knighton, club songs and short talks by visiting members . of the Manti club. Miss Erma Lunderberg staged a clever stunt when she gave a prophecy of each club member for the year 1956. Each prophecy was a burlesque and the sedate members of the newly organized - club did not refrain from letting forth yells of mirth. I |
