Show SPECTACULAR RUNAWAY The residents of West First South were treated with thrills and excitement excite-ment last Sunday morning when a runaway horse tore down that thoroughfare thor-oughfare at a speed that would put "fast ones" in the shade. Glen StUDOs, tne pilot or me miunaieu beast, played the part of the hero in the mad race and for his acts he was loudly applauded when he finally final-ly returned leading the animal. Glen, bound for Dover, started his horse in front of Reuben Christensen's. No sooner had the young man taken his seat in the two-wheeled cart when the horse gave a leap and was off with a whirl. Passing telephone', poles, hitting rocks and ruts did not! ! deter the brave spirit of the youth-j I ful driver and with the nerve the j lad held fast and tight but failed; to stay the speed of his trusty steed, j The horse took a course due west and after rounding Rocky Point en-; countered a drove of sheep. Unable to get through and being thrown to : the ground the maddened animal j gave the driver a chance to get her ; under control. The horse ran fully a mile and a quarter and the -only ;! disastrous results were the injuring " j of one sheep and giving the boy a I scare. |
