Show Mayfield Home Is Damaged By Fire Fire, which broke out in the roof of the home of Mrs. Arthur Christensen Chris-tensen last Sunday evening about 0 o'clock did damage to the amount of nearly $1,000. The roof of the structure struc-ture was burned and household goods were badly damaged by water and smoke. The loss is fully covered by insurance. The fire was discovered just at the time as the family was leaving to attend church and immediately an alarm was given. Volunteers did yeoman work by forming a bucket brigade and with a convenient irrigation irriga-tion ditch full of water the flames were quickly subdued and a K portion por-tion of the building saved. Those reaching the home early helped to get some of the household effects out but little was accomplished on account ac-count of the great headway made by the fire. The origin of the fire is unknown as yet but it is thought it was started start-ed through defective wiring. Insurance Insur-ance adjusters are at Mayfield this week and will determine the cause. Mrs. Christensen, who is a widow, will more than likely remove the remains re-mains of the burned building and erect a new and modern home on her property. |
