Show As a result of the assistance obtained ob-tained through the service officer of the local Anierican Legion post, Carl Renberg of Mayficld was called to Salt Lake City last Sunday by the United States Veterans' Bureau for examination and further consideration considera-tion of a claim for war disabilities. Gilbert Fjeldsted of Ccnterfield, another an-other veteran of the late war, has also received a call to appear before the bureau. Mr. Fjeldsted will leave Saturday and will appear for examination exam-ination next Monday. While there has been much argument argu-ment pro and con, as to the official flower to be adopted for the American Amer-ican Legion, a decision has finally been reached. The American daisy and strictly American is the choice made. In accordance with instructions received from National headquarters, Saturday, July 1st, has been designated desig-nated as "Membership Day. On this same date the proration of dues will I be made. . Post officers of the local organization are getting busy and every member will be solidly behind the movement and a desperate effort will be made to make the Gunnison Post 100 per cent in membership. Effective July 1st, National and Department dues are reduced to 75 cents each. Formerly the dues were $2 and with the reduction of 50 cents will prove an item. The Fourth Annual Department convention which will be held in Logan Lo-gan should be the largest and best Legion convention ever held in this state. With each post allowed two delegates-at-large and one delegate for every fifteen members paid-up on August 21st and one alternate allowed al-lowed for each delegate, there should be a very large attendance of delegates alone. Then there are certain to be many visitors because of the fine program which has been outlined and it is believed that all loyal Legionnaires will turn out to welcome our National Commander who will be in attendance. |
