Show W alking Tourist Raps Master Minds Not alone are the citizens of South-em South-em Utah, particularly, those located in the flourishing and beautiful valleys val-leys east of the mountains and not o:i the Arrowhead Trail, landing ''kicks" and severe criticisms on the ! State Automobile association at Salt ! Lake, but nutoists and pedestrians are eager and do severely criticise the attitude of the "master minds." The latest one to land on the M. M's. at Salt Lake was one A .Walker, doing do-ing a pedestrian stunt from Chicago to Los Angeles. Walker made splendid splen-did progress until he reached Salt Lake City. Naturally he sought information in-formation as to the logical route to reach the Southern California town. "The Arrowhead Trail," he was told at the offices of the State Automobile association. Walker took the scent and reached reach-ed Levan. An act of providence guided the man down through Gunnison. Gun-nison. Inquiries here as to whether s he was on the Arrowhead revealed the fact that he was not. "Curses and curses" for the misdirected information in-formation from the M. M's at Salt Lake and were plenty and many from the man walking across the country. Walker, however, after he had been informed that he was on the only logical route and that he was passing through one of the prettiest and safest saf-est routes in the western country, agreed and not only denounced the attitude of the Salt Lakers, but praised prais-ed this valley and declared that it would be his idea to "set" every traveler trav-eler he met, right as to the way to reach the scenic parts of Southern Utah. He shuddered '.when told that the "west" of the mountain was a long, dreary desert and that houses and supplies were far apart. Mr. Walker is on a wager, walking from Chicago to Los Angeles and he was destined to reach the metropolis metro-polis of Southern California by the last of this month. What he had seen of this valley he had the highest high-est praise and deplored the fact that tourists and travelers were forced to follow the bleak trail on the "west side." |
