Show Boosting Spirit Is Needed Most If Southern Utah boosters were filled with the spirit of doing things like "Hill" l'eters of the) Garfield County News, every section south of I'rovo would be benefitted and incidentally in-cidentally tiie "legging" by the master mas-ter minds' 'at Salt Lake for everything every-thing but Sanpete, Sevier, Piute and Garfield counties might be partially checked. "Bill" shoots through his paper what he thinks and if every booster through the eastside route to the scenic wonders of Southern Utah would do the same, the lonely, hot dusty and uninviting trail would soon be deserted. This is how "Bill" tells them about it: Salt Lake City organizations are using the slogan, "Use Utah Made Goods," "Trade at Home," and all that kind of stuff, and then about twice a day some tourist comes through and tells us that some certain cer-tain 'assasination,' or association up at Zion tells them that 'there is nothing down this way,' 'that Bryce canyon does not amount to much,' that there is nothing on the east side of the mountains,' 'that the towns arc only about 100 population,' and all that tommyrot. Then they want to change the name of the scenic wonders won-ders that have had, we may say, millions mil-lions of dollars worth of advertising. While we are changing names, why not call Salt Lake City 'Mallet,' the dictionary name for hammer, also this section of Southern Utah send some of her dollars rolling down the Arrowhead trail, where they wi'.l light in that Glorious (?) country that Salt Lake City seems so determined determ-ined to boost and send all the tourists tour-ists California. We believe that if the different organizations would help us as we help them, they would be better off. If Salt Lake City will just stop and figure it out, they will come to a sense of realization that they are earning their daily bread and butter from some of us people who are on the outside, and not on Main and State streets, and if we get together and take a portion away from there, God help Salt Lake City. Wre should start some slogans like this: 'Use California Made Goods, Made where the tourists are Directed.' Direct-ed.' We do not begrudge California her tourists, but you can depend upon up-on it that California will look after j that, that they are not sending anybody any-body to Utah not on your life, till they get what they want from them. They have something to show tourists tour-ists and are together, man to man, not one location where some big concern con-cern happens to have a little money tied up in 'interests' etc., but the entire en-tire state of California. Some of S. L. C's. big concerns should move down there if they are so durn badly stuck on that country. |
