Show Legion Meeting Big Drawing Card Logan, Utah, Aug. 10. Promising to be the greatest convention ever held by hte American Legion, the plans for the coming fourth annual convention are rapidly taking definite defin-ite form. The official call for the convention is now being distributed by Kirk M. Decker, department adjutant. ad-jutant. According to the call the purpose yf the convention will be to elect officers for the coming year, to amend the department constitution, to elect delegates to the national convention and to transact other business. Each post in the state is entitled to two delegates for the post and one additional delegate for every fifteen members in good standing. This is based on the membership of Aug. 20. Voting strength will be according accord-ing to the number of delegates each post is entitled to. The call for the American Legion .Auxiliary convention ' is also being distributed by Mrs. Lamar Nelson, department secretary and signed by Mrs. J. A. Howell, department president. presi-dent. The American Legion Auxiliary Auxil-iary will hold its convention at the same time and place as the Legion convention, The work of the first annual convention con-vention of the Auxiliary will be to ratify the decisions of the department depart-ment caucus held in Ogden in June, to adopt the department constitution, and to elect certain officers. One day of the convention will be featured by a parade and p:iz"s will be given for the best historical and patroitic floats. Entertainment will be provided by the Logan Auxiliary unit and Logan post No. 7. All veterans veter-ans of the world war are invited whether they belong to the Legion or not. The apportionment of delegates will be approximately 390 to the Legion Le-gion and 100 to the Auxiliaray gathering. Plans for, the gatherings are being arranged by the active convention committees of the Legion and Auxiliary Auxil-iary under the direction of Wesley Anderson and Mrs. E. S. Budge. |
