Show Gunnison Has Only Tannery In State Gunnison can boast of having the ;OQly tannery in the state of Utah, and it there are- any in the intcrmountain section, it sinks into insignificance in comparison with the plant just south of Gunnison. .. Inasmuch as little is Mown of the business by the ordinary ordi-nary laymen, the establishment of the plant here means much for this section, as well as the entire state. The Gunnison plant was es nb-llBheil nb-llBheil an opened last August by peorge Bartholomew, Jr., the well known expert from Fayette. Since the opening Manager Bartholomew has been busy in exploiting his wares and Jiis products have heen exhibited Jjolh at the state and county fairs, had in each Instance first awards have been made: At the Utah state air held last fall the exhibits from tin; Gunnison tannery wtere given It ho highest awards against all competitors com-petitors for leather. The plant here is equipped with everything necessary to the most modern and upto-date work. Both the chrome and vegetable processes are used in preparing the leather anif the equipment is so that all kinds of tanning, either with the hair on or off, can be done. Samples of the work have been sent out and it is declared de-clared to be of the highest grade. In addition to tanning, Mr. Bartholomew Bartholo-mew does taxidermy work and jnounting. The industry is one to be proud of and the citizens can do no better than getting back and supporting the new manufacturing institution. |
