Show PROBING THE SUGAR INDUSTRY? Congress has plans to carry on an extensive investigation of ugar refining, manufacturing and distribtuion. What will come of this probe no one knows as sugar has always al-ways been an international article of commerce. Raw sugars are bought by refiners on the Atlantic and Pacific and are sold to all countries of Europe. Importers of raw cane eugar arc also manufacturers of beet sugar. Due largely to the beet sugar industry, our country has had the cheapest sugar supply in the world. What will a long-drawn-out congressional probe do to the American sugar industry? |
