Show Peculiar Things In Dry Territory This is a little nature story concerning con-cerning two fish "fans" who reside in the close vicinity of Gunnison. Both "fans" are always filled with stories upon their return from their favorite streams or lakes, and usually their listeners stand around with wide-open mouths listening with awe and wonderment won-derment of the gigantic size of the latest fish caught, and they figure how many trucks it would take to haul that one fish that that One Fan caught. And, too, the mystery deepens, deep-ens, because the story that has just leaked out was not intentionally cir- culated for public amusement. And there is also a mysterious fact con-1 nected with the incident because it' happened in a perfectly (?) dry territory. ter-ritory. Last Sunday the two aforesaid "fans" bethought themselves of a good time and went to the Sevier river riv-er dam for an outing and incidentally to try for some of the festive, bass and trout that habit the waters below be-low the dam. Starting as early as 4 o'clock and in anticipation of returning return-ing with a real "fish" story, the twain wended their way as far as about three miles from town. The first encounter en-counter was a "blow out" in the Ford tire. Hasty preparations for repairs and the scener and temper changes. When the patch had been neatly adjusted ad-justed there was no pump, and being unable to swell the tire on the hot fish stories, it was necessary to travel several sev-eral miles when, an accommodating passerby proffered the use of a pump. The next failure was that of gasoline. After much delay and worry and cussing the Lizzie was given a drink and finally the fishing pond was reached. Now what do you think. One of these fisher boys just naturally could not find his fishing outfit, look as hard as he might. Coming to the realization real-ization that he had left his home hur-; riedly, he discovered that his rod and reel reposed serenely in its usual .aunts at his home. It could not be learned from the informant as to .vhether the two big fishermen had provided themselves with a lunch or lot. And all of this is a "dry" stale. Julius Duggins and L. Ludvigson ipent last Sunday at the Sevier river dam fishing for bass and trout. They report a catch of two fine bass. |
