Show OFFICIALS LAX, DRYS CLAIM. Anti-Saloon League Not Satisfied With Prohibition Enforcement. . Washington United Slates judges and district attorneys, corrupted federal fed-eral agents and the political campaign are charged by Wayne P. Wheeler, general counsel for the Anti-Saloon league, with responsibility for unsnt- isfactory enforcement of the prohibition prohibi-tion law in several slates. In a statement issued August J'.t, Mr. Wlieoler alleges that district judges have aided the bootleggers by giving small fines and showing antagonism antag-onism to the law, that district attorneys attor-neys have precluded enforcement by demanding too much evidence and that state and federal officers alike are making the prohibition law a "political football." While pointing out the laxity of Hie law's enforcement, the Anti-Saloon league official says that all will come out right in the end and that present pres-ent conditions need not alarm friends of prohibition. |
