Contract on Street Crossing To Be Rushed to Completion The work of paving the walks and crossings in the city of Gunnison wan put under headway last Wednesday morning hy Joint S. Peterson, who was awarded the contract for the work by the, city fathers. The starting start-ing has been somewhat delayed in assembling material and other necessities, neces-sities, according to Mr. Peterson, but with everything now available it is expected the work will go ahead until un-til checked hy frosts. The first work has been done at the intersection of Alain and First South streets, where the crossing Is being laid. According to the. decision of the mayor and city council, it has been deemed advisable to first put the crossings in and later the walks. It is planned to put all of the crossings cross-ings in at the down-town section, and if possible before freezing weather sets in, to cover the vacant places on 'the east side of Main street between . Center and First South. "There has been some trouble in petting material and help," said Mr. Peterson, "but with these difficulties now over come the work will be hur-rietd hur-rietd along with all possible speed. There will be considerable grading to be done and in some places fills will be necessary, but everything will be done to complete as many crossings as possible before the rains and muddy mud-dy weather start. |
