Show STANDARD OIL HEAD DEAD. John D. Archbold Succumbs to At-tack At-tack of Appendicitis. Tarrytown, N. Y. John D. Arch-bold, Arch-bold, president of the Standard Oil company of New Jersey, died at his home here Monday morning. Mr. Archbold was operated on for appendicitis ten days previous and for a time seemed to rally from the effects of the operation, but later suffered" suf-fered" a relapse. 'Mr. Archbold was a native of Ohio, born July 26, 1848. He went to the Pennsylvania oil regions in 1864 and spent eleven years in the petroleum centers in that state. His connection with the Standard Oil company grew out of his activities in Pennsylvania, when with Rockefeller and other capitalists cap-italists he saw the enormous possibilities possibil-ities of the industry. He had been connected with the Standard, as director di-rector since 1878. He was made.).reg. ident of the Standard Oil company of New Jersey in 1914. |
