Show CITY COUNCIL. The city council in regalar monthly month-ly session Saturday night opened proposals sent in, bidding on th9 pipe line trench for the new water works. A bid from L. H, Erikson was the only oue filed, but while considering con-sidering it another from L. H. Childs ai discovered lying among BOine loose papers on the table. Upon opening this it was found considerably considera-bly higher than Mr. Erickson's and works. Piping and material neces sary to extend the mains as far as the south liojitof the city was oidered included in-cluded with the first order instead of deferring as contemplated. A portion por-tion of the bottom land owned by the city was ordered to be advertised for sale, and repairs on the city jail authorized. au-thorized. The request was taken under advisement to giva time fcr reply of counsel on the legality of leasing the ground in the manner asked. It was further urged that permission be granted to charge for the privilege of standing teams on the street east, where many prefer to be seated in watching the games. The mayor and Kearns were elected elec-ted delegates to the Good Roads contention con-tention in Ogden on the 23rd iust. the city to pay expense of the trip. D.C.Dunbar, who hns the contract to furnish a portion of the piping, expected to havs materials shipped out and begin work in about three weeks. The city treasurer was instructed to have all unrecorded deeds held by the city, filed for record The committee appointed to see after af-ter the purchatirig of water right reported re-ported offers from two paries, by whioh fifty-eight shares can be purchased pur-chased at $50 an acre.
