Show EMPRESS. Berzac's comedy circus, the headlined act at the Empress this week, needs a winter's rest. The two ponies run a turntable and a trick mule furnishes fur-nishes a few minutes fun in evading the efforts of three or four darkies to ride her. At that, the act is a scream for the youngsters. Albert Donnelly, the hand shadowist, opens the bill with an act that is interesting and Kitty Ross and the Princess Miroff take care of the singing end of the bill acceptably. "Little Steve," as played by Richard Cummings, Jr., is quite a sob squad all by himself, and there is little worth in the sketch. Sydney Grant, a vaudeville favorite fa-vorite of other seasons here and more recently a musical comedy star, tells a few new ones and an old one or two, interpolating them with songs until he fills out an act acceptably. |
